You should always evaluate:

• Photos of the boat
• Is the boat up to date and not a relic of the past
• How much fishing room (many big expensive boats have little fishing room)
• Photos of any accommodations (if choosing all-inclusive)
• Ask if the boat had single engine or twin diesels
• Are engines inboard or outboard
• What electronics the boat has on board to aid your search for fish
• Is the boat air conditioned
• Are there add-on charges for various things such as liquor at the lodge, villa, hotel, or resort
• Is there a full toilet and shower on the boat (not just a tiny marine head or bucket.
• What food and drink is provided on the boat? (hot or cold lunch)
• The size of the boat has nothing to do with the number of fish caught or released.  Crews communicate with each other and those with radar can see where a group of boats congregate.  So, most boats end up fishing in the same or nearby places during a fishing day.

 

As you can see from these questions, the answers to them, and your choices reflect in the price of the charter.  What may seem a great discount price may not seem like such a bargain if you catch fewer fish, are uncomfortable the entire trip, or the food is terrible.
